Apple Crowned Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  2 cups flour

  2 Tbs granulated sugar

  1 Tbs CALUMET Baking Powder

  2 tsp ground cinnamon, divided

  1 tsp salt

  1/2 cup butter or margarine (1 stick)

  2/3 cup milk

  1 egg

  2 cups chopped apples

  1/2 cup chopped nuts

  1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

  1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted (1/2 stick)

  1 cup sifted powdered sugar

  2 Tbs milk

Directions

Mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and salt; cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir milk and egg; add to flour mixture. Mix just until moistened. Spread onto bottom of greased 9-inch square baking pan.

Mix apples, nuts, brown sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter and remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon; spoon over batter.

Bake at 375°F for 45 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Stir powdered sugar with milk. Drizzle over cake.
