Down Home Macaroni & Cheese

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  1/4 cup (4 Tbsp.) butter or margarine , divided

  1/4 cup flour

  2 cups milk

  1/4 lb. (4 oz.) VELVEETA Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product , cut up

  1 pkg. (8 oz.) KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese , divided

  2 cups (8 oz.) elbow macaroni , cooked, drained

  2 Tbs seasoned dry bread crumbs

Directions

Melt 3 tablespoons of the butter in saucepan on low heat.

Blend in flour; cook and stir 2 minutes or until bubbly.

Gradually add milk; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.

Add prepared cheese product and 1-1/2 cups of the shredded cheese; stir until melted. Stir in macaroni.

Pour into 1-1/2-quart casserole.

Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter; mix with bread crumbs.

Sprinkle casserole with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bread crumb mixture.

Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

Great Substitute: Substitute 1/4 cup crushed buttery cracker crumbs for the bread crumbs.

Special Extra: Stir in 1/4 cup OSCAR MAYER Real Bacon Bits with the macaroni.
